Complexe Scolaire d’Application (CODAP-UEMI)

Under the Faculty of Education, students need to have a place to practice teaching methods and contribute to quality education. From September 2014, UEMI opened primary school program and in September 2015, a secondary school was officially opened as well. This aims at an education reform system, that prepares young generation from rural context to have access to quality education and to be competitive for further education anywhere in the world. The school follows the national curriculum with Kindergarten, Grade One to Six and they sit for National Primary School Examination. High school is 6 years of study before students sit for National Examination (Examen d’Etat) as a requirement to college and university study.

As a private school it has some extra-curriculum courses that students take. It focuses on multi-language medium of instruction (French and English). Students also use other local languages including Swahili which is national language. Under this program, the university along with its partner LaOlam Ministry and individuals have initiated a scholarship program whereby orphans, other vulnerable children and girls’ education is fully or partially supported.

CODAP-UEMI received its accreditation from the Provincial Ministry of Education No 001/GP-SK/MINIPRO/EDU-JEUN-SL-ASC-INC/2017 et no 002/GP-SK/MINIPRO/EDU-JEUN-SL-ASC-INC/2017 en date 11/01/2017. The school has qualified teachers many of them from the graduates of UEMI faculty of Education. Beside education in classrooms, children are introduced to environmental and social classes which allow them to engage their local communities as learners and teachers as they learn hands on. They also have access to Information Technology program through the university’ partnership with Cornell Computer Reuse Association (CCRA) through donation of laptops. They also learn how to be peacemakers and good citizens making longtime friends, loving and caring for neighbors. As a Christian school, children learn and develop their spiritual lives.
